How Is Energy Transferred - 1431 Words

How is energy transferred? This question can be answered in many ways and forms, let’s elaborate.†¨Energy in the dictionary meaning is, ‘the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity’. In my own view, energy is the most vital and unrecognized strength this world has. Energy can make anything move or perform certain movements or tasks, it can even be used to make non-living things move. That is called Kinetic Energy. Kinetic energy is energy that is stored and used by any moving object. When an object is using kinetic energy, it creates another form of energy called Gravitational Potential Energy. This is energy that is stored in an object, it is also the energy of a particle acquired from position, or condition, rather than motion. Things that have potential energy are a raised weight, coiled spring, a charged battery or even food etc, energy causes change within systems.†¨The dictionary meaning is ‘the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, electric charge, electric charge, and other factors’. Elastic potential energy is the potential in which when you pull something such as an elastic band, and the further you pull and stretch the item, the more Elastic potential it possesses upon release of the object.†¨ The way energy travels is by vibrating in waves which can either be a path through longitudinal or transverse waves. These waves are the path to transferring energy. Longitudinal waves travel and vibrate in aShow MoreRelatedInvestigation Into The Heat Of Combustion Of An Alcohol1669 Words   |  7 Pagesand are going to be used to warm up a known amount of water in a beaker. Therefore, the mass of alcohol that will be burnt is going to be measured. In this experiment you will also learn about calorific value. Calorific value is the amount of heat energy produced on combustion of 1g of alcohol can then be calculated. Abstract: This investigation is all about what alcohol is more effective as a fuel. The alcohols that we used were methanol and ethanol. During this experiment safety precautions wereRead MoreHow Heat Is The Heat Source For Our World1513 Words   |  7 Pagesthe sun that energy is transferred â€Å"through space and through the earth s atmosphere to the earth s surface† (â€Å"The Transfer of Heat Energy†, n.d.). When energy begins to warm our planet’s atmosphere and surface, some of that energy is considered to be heat energy. Specifically, there are three different methods in which our world uses to transfer heat into and throughout the atmosphere; these methods include conduction, convection, and radiation. Heat is considered to be thermal energy, and thus isRead MoreThe Effect Of Heat Transfer On The Sun Essay1640 Words   |  7 Pagesthat they are the methods by which heat is transferred. Scientists have stated that heat transfer is the exchange of thermal energy between physical systems. The rate at which heat is transferred occurs is dependent upon the temperature of the system and properties of the medium where the heat is transferred. Heat transfer, whether it is any of the three previously stated, are extremely important because it is vital to existence on Earth. The thermal energy that comes millions of miles from the SunRead MoreTeaching Will Be Very Proactive And Flexible During The Unit On Energy859 Words   |  4 PagesTeaching will be very untraditional and flexible during the unit on energy. The students all have multiple disabilities and are in a self-contained setting most of the day. These disabilities impact all three students’ academics and behaviors. Lesson planning for this unit was and will continue to be strategic and complicated. In order for students to grasp each concept, the concept must be broken down into smaller concepts. Each lesson will have to be well paced, where each lesson does not go tooRead MoreEnergy And Energy Of Energy1140 Words   |  5 PagesScientifically, energy is defined as the ability to do work. While there are many forms of energy, they can be grouped into two categories:Potential energy, or stored energy; and Kinetic energy, or energy is a form of potential energy and it is possessed by things such as food, fuels, and batteries. Energy is the ability to cause changes in matter. It can exist in many different forms. Energy can change from one form to another. There are six forms of energy: mechanical, chemical, electrical, lightRead MoreCell Energy Worksheet1024 Words   |  5 PagesAssociate Program Material Cell Energy Worksheet Answer the following questions: Cellular respiration: †¢ What is cellular respiration and what are its three stages? Cellular respiration is the process by which electrons are transferred between glucose to coenzymes and then to oxygen. The three stagesare: glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and electron transport. †¢ What is the role of glycolysis? Include the reactants and the products. Where does it occur? GlycolysisRead MoreEnthalpy Change of Combustion Experiment852 Words   |  4 Pagesbefore and after used as heat source to heat water in a calorimeter. The result is used to find out amount of heat transferred by the fuel, amount of fuel used and the enthalpy change of combustion. Introduction Enthalpy change of combustion is the enthalpy change when a substance completely reacts with oxygen under standard conditions. This experiment is carried out to show how this enthalpy change of combustion is different in different fuels. For this experiment I took two fuels methanol andRead MoreAdvantages And Disadvantages Of Geothermal Energy1516 Words   |  7 PagesSUBMITTED FOR Energy Studies INTRODUCTION In the present scenario , ENERGY has become the most important part of our daily life requirements . It is used so extensively in our day to day life that we , at many times , do not even realise that it is being used. Thus, for all our works , energy is required in large quantities . But the big question which arises is , from where to get the energy. There are several sources and a wide variety of methods to fulfill our demands by producing energy . Being humansRead MorePlain And Simple, We Need Heat1599 Words   |  7 Pagesheat from the Sun. As one can see, heat is all around us and we need it, but many of us do not even know what the proper definition for heat is or how or why it even transfers. Therefore, this paper will focus on giving answers to questions that might be though to be simple but there is a whole scientific explanation behind them such as what is heat? How does it transfer? What are some examples of those heat transmission forms? What is Heat? Before writing the paper, I ask both my sister and husbandRead MoreSynthesis From The Law Of Conservation Of Energy1470 Words   |  6 Pagesconservation of energy but is slightly changed to encompass the differences. (clarkson.edu, n.d.) This law when put simply states that the change in energy within the system is directly proportional to the difference of the heat input to the system and the workout put of the system. (ucdavis.edu, n.d.)This gives the following equation: ∆U=Q-W Where; ∆U is the change in internal energy of the sytem Q is the amount of energy added to the system through heat W is the amount of energy lost due to work
